Why I Do What I Do
About Clark
My dad, Ralph Carpenter was the Sports Information Director at Texas Tech University, and my mom was a Registered Nurse at Methodist hospital in Lubbock. My parents knew nothing about Medicare, what Medicare does NOT cover or Long-Term Care (LTC) planning.
My dad suffered through an extended illness after leaving Texas Tech. My dad began as mild diabetic. Complications of diabetes led to open heart surgery, Parkinson’s, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and congestive heart failure. My mom was forced into a short sale of their home in a heavily wooded neighborhood near the University where my dad was formerly employed to avoid foreclosure.
After working her entire life, my mom moved into one side of a small duplex in a not so nice part of town. Not only was it financially devastating for my parents, but it was incredibly gut wrenching emotional rollercoaster for my mother, my brother and me.
I thought if I could learn something about finance, insurance and other strategies to prevent this from happening to other families, how rewarding would that be?
Unlike a lot of advisors who don’t focus on LTC or asset protection, I have a passion for trying to help people avoid what happened to my family. I don’t regret what happened because over the last 15 years we have helped hundreds of individuals and families protect their hard-earned assets. I regularly hold workshops on Medicare, what Medicare does NOT cover, Long-Term Care, and other topics like Social Security, to help educate as many people as possible.
